Celinda Means
This portrait was donated to the museum by Mrs. Edward Tozer in 1895. There were two women named Celinda Means in Towanda in the first half of the nineteenth century. Both died at the age of 21: Celinda Means (1799-1820), daughter of William Means Sr. Celinda Eunice Means (1822-1843), daughter of William Means Jr. The original card catalog entry for this portrait describes the subject of the portrait as Celinda, daughter of William (Sr.) and Elizabeth, and wife of Guerdon Hew
